The Rally dos Sertões started for real this Sunday with a total of 216,21 kilometers from Goiás capital Goiânia to Caldas Novas, a touristic town widely known by its hot waters. The stage was 155,65 long, and both NWM Ford Ranger 4x4 brought do Brazil by X Rally Team were second and fourth. Reinaldo Varela/Gustavo Gugelmin won the stage with 1h50min17s on their T1 FIA Toyota Hilux, beating X Rally duo Cristian Baumgart/Beco Andreotti by only nine seconds.
Mistubishi ASX Racings Guilherme Spinelli/Youssef Haddad came third, almost two minutes behind Varela and Gugelmin. Fifteen seconds after Spinelli, Cristians brother Marcos Baumgart and co-driver Kleber Cincea reached fourth position with the Ford Ranger.

"We werent pushing hard, but weve been more abusive in the final kilometers. The car is unbelievable. We went through a jump and the car flew so high and far, but it landed so smoothly. I was hugely impressed. This Ford Ranger seems to ask you to push harder and harder".

"There were so many jumps in this stage that I felt like I was riding a mad bull in a rodeo festival. Although I make this comparison, the stage was extremely pleasant to drive - even more with this car. Im in love with it".
