Thats a wrap up for day two at the Rally dos Sertões, with a total of 260 kilometers from Caldas Novas to Catalão. Todays stage, which was set up to be 202 kms long, had to be shortened duo to safety reasons, giving the drivers only the fastest stretches to race on.
The X Rally Team/NWM duos moved one position each in the standings. Yesterday Ford Ranger #316 Cristian Baumgart/Beco Andreotti had to face a five-minute penalty for not reaching a waypoint in the final liason. That dropped the duo from second to fourth. They recovered the time lost by 1min42secs this Monday by being second fastest, only behind Mistubishi ASX duo Spinelli/Haddad.
They said it could be better, since they got stuck into the dust of Varela/Gugelmin Toyotas dust. The former leaders didnt open up to be overtaken and in the end they have got a 10-minute penalty in a radar zone. Varela now has dropped down to fourth position.
On the other hand, Marcos Baumgart/Kleber Cincea finished third and moved up to second in the general rankings, only 2min10secs behind the new leaders Spinelli/Haddad.

"It was another very quick stage, and we were in good shape until we found (Reinaldo) Varela in front of us, just getting back to the track after changing a flat tire. He kept us behind him for about 30 kms. We were faster, but he didnt let us go, and it cost us big time".
