“For a prologue, it is beyond great”, stated Cristian Baumgart who, alongside co-driver Beco Andreotti, is Sertões reigning champion. “We will not get too much dust in our front. Besides, our other car is right behind us”, says Andreotti.
Marcos Baumgart and Kleber Cincea start third. “It is a day to check if everything is ok, and I think the machinery behaved very well, especially under the hot conditions we experienced today”, says Cristian’s brother in the #303 NWM Ford Ranger. “It was important to get a good starting position, so we are happy”, completed Kleber.
Neil Woolridge is once again in Brazil following X Rally Team giving consultance with NWM/X Rally crew. “I was impressed with the temperature today. It is winter here, and we experienced 33 degrees Celsius. I see it as a preview of what the whole rally will be: hot, dusted, and ruthless” he described.
“The cars behaved very well, without a single problem. Of course it was a short strech, and we know tomorrow is going to be a difficult stage. This is why this starting position for our Ford Rangers is so importante – we only have one car ahead, so the dust should not be a capital problem”, Neil states.
The first out of seven days of competition starts this Sunday when the rally leaves Goiânia towards Goianésia. The stage itself is 306-km long, with a total of 680 of dusty and rocky stretches – according to the organization, one of the most difficult first day of all the 25 editions in the event.
