The NWM/X Rally Team had a good day of competition on the fourth stage in Brazil’s Rally dos Sertões, when overall leaders Cristian Baumgart and Beco Andreotti finished third on the 220-km long fast stage this Wednesday in a total of 418 kilometers between the cities of Aruanã and Barra do Garças. A good result, as the NWM-built Ford Ranger V8 4x4 finished in front of the South Racing Ford Ranger of Reinaldo Varela/Gustavo Gugelmin.

“Since the team completely revised the car after the marathon, we considered today a good opportunity to test the limits and if everything is ok, because the stage did not offer great challenges. There were long straights all the way, where we could focus only on accelerating without any harming”, defined Cristian Baumgart.

Day five of Brazil’s largest off road competition takes the teams from Barra do Garças to Coxim. It will be the longest day of this year’s Sertões: 666 kilometers and 438-km long stage. “We were briefed by the organization that we will have all kinds of terrain tomorrow. It will be a complete day of hard work and we will keep our heads down. The car is behaving extremely well”, co-driver Beco Andreotti told.

Those have been very hot days in the central-Brazilian winter – up to 37 degrees Celsius. For NWM’s Neil Woolridge, the team and the car are performing in peak performance. “We are very happy to be leading, but it’s a tough race and we are only halfway through the race. Anything can happen, and in motorsports it does happen, so we have to keep the focus”.

“We have a fantastic team this year, the car is performing really well; we have got a nice 16-minute lead. The weather is beautifull, altough it is very, very hot. Let’s keep it like this for the next three days”, Neil finishes.
