Brazil’s Rally dos Sertões starts this Sunday in Goiânia for a 3,600-km adventure. The first round of the traditional race will be 690-km long with a stage of 300 kilometers. The Prologue was held this Saturday at the Goiânia racetrack where drivers and riders raced for three laps in the circuit to define the starting positions for tomorrow’s challenge.
In his first international race, Gareth Woolridge starts in sixth position with the X Rally Team-built Ford Ranger V8 4x4 in the T1 FIA Brasil class, alongside Brazilian co-driver Marcelo Haseyama.
“We did not want to be first tomorrow and catch the UTVs, so we took some references off other guys and made our pace accordingly”, Gareth highlighted.
Neil Woolridge’s yougest son expects to catch some of the cars in front to start the Sertões in the most positive way possible. “We expected to be in the top-3, however, the time we set was very good. We are happy we can make up some time tomorrow”, he finishes.
The joint between X Rally Team and Neil Woolridge Motorsport put four cars into the top-6 in the Prologue this Saturday. Sylvio de Barros was fastest, while Marcos Baumgart starts third with his brother Cristian - who races to reach his third consecutive title -, right behind him in fourth.
