There are only two more days to go in the Rally dos Sertões. This Thursday, Brazils largest off-road competition completed more 425 kilometers of stage. NWM-Ford Performance duos are already taking it easy, saving their machinery looking forward to the finish line next Saturday in Palmas.
Second and third today, X Rally Teams Cristian Baumgart/Beco Andreotti and NWMs Lance Woolridge/Marcelo Haseyama kept their overall 1-2 with a good margin on the third-placed car.
"We had a clean, smooth day, managing the pace with no mistakes. The car is like new, and it will be awesome to drive in the desert", stated Cristian Baumgart.
The Jalapão, inside the state of Tocantins, is a semi-arid region, popularly called desert, although it has rivers and waterfalls. However, the sandy roads made Lance Woolridge fell like he was in Africa again.
"I really enjoyed the day again. It was a good one, and the last 20 kilometers specifically was just like the desert race we have in Bostuana. Apparently thats what the terrain will be like tomorrow. So, Im looking forward to it: very sandy and twisty, but it flows. Im just feeling like home. It will be nice tomorrow", the South-African highlighted.
Tomorrow they will face a 515-km stage to reach the city of Ponte Alta and finish the second part of the marathon.
