Campos Racing will contest the Round 4 of the FIA Formula 2 Championship, which takes place at Silverstone in the frame of the F1 Grand Prix this weekend. The iconic circuit will host two other rounds of the main Formula 1 feeder series as after the British Grand Prix this weekend, the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix is scheduled just a week later. Campos Racing is entering the hot phase of the FIA Formula 2 Championship and the Spanish outfit has worked relentlessly during last two weeks to get the competitive mood on British soil.
After a tough weekend at the Hungaroring, Campos Racing and its duo of Jack Aitken and Guilherme Samaia feel extremely motivated ahead of the first double-header at Silverstone. “The Home of British Motor Racing” brings nice memories back as local hero Aitken secured a valuable second win of the season for Campos Racing last year.
Samaia will also want to take another step forward in his learning process in the series. The Brazilian, who made it to the finish in each and every race to date in the FIA F2, sets his goals in adding further experience under his belt at the wheel of his Campos Racing-run Dallara F2 2018. “I think the two-weeks brake we had was very positive: I could rest a little more, study more; I had more time to absorb everything after three rounds, at the same time the team had more time to work improving the cars”, stated Guilherme.
Silverstone features a real challenge for the tires due to its high-speed corners such as Abbey and Copse, which have become eponymous of motorsport itself. The famed Maggots and Becketts sequence is another key zone in order to clock a competitive qualifying time. Another characteristic fact at Silverstone is its changeable weather conditions even within the same day such as rain in the morning and dry, sunny conditions in the afternoon.
Free practice and qualifying sessions take place on Friday at 13.55 and 18.00 respectively. Saturday’s feature race is scheduled at 16.45 with Sunday’s sprint race getting underway at 11.10. All times are CET.
