The 2020 FIA Formula 2 Championship season will continue its non-stop action with a second consecutive event at Silverstone, the well-known “Home of British Motor Racing”. The old airfield has become one of the most famous and iconic circuits across the world due to the speed and flow of its layout.
Campos Racing will enter their two Dallara F2 2018 cars for local Jack Aitken and series newcomer Guilherme Samaia. The season is being as tough as expected with just one second covering almost twenty drivers. Besides, the new 18-inch tires have been another challenge for drivers and engineers. After four rounds, Campos Racing has worked tirelessly to understand how the cars perform on the new wheels and the team is on the right path now.
“There were some improvements, and I think from my side I could learn a lot and gather a great amount of information that hopefully I can put into practice this weekend. It is a great opportunity to race at the same track for the second weekend in a row, so let’s try to take some advantage from it”, stated rookie Brazilian Guilherme Samaia.
Silverstone is extremely hard for tires as Round 4 proved a few days ago. There are many fast corners flowing in quick succession and drivers need to nurse their tires in order to make it to the finish with no extra stops. Despite a high-downforce set-up is mandatory, tires are continuously working to generate as much grip as possible. Particularly Copse or Becketts are true tire killers and they also play a key role to clock a competitive qualifying time.
Free practice and qualifying sessions take place on Friday at 13.55 and 18.00 respectively. Saturday’s feature race is scheduled at 16.45 with Sunday’s sprint race getting underway at 11.10. All times are CET.
