Guilherme Samaia had a promising weekend in Silverstone during the fifth round of the FIA Formula 2 season, concluded this Sunday with the victories of Callum Ilott and Yuki Tsunoda. As the Campos Racing Team could show improvement in the car setup, providing Samaia's teammate Jack Aitken two podium finishes on the Feature Race and the Sprint Race, both with a third place.
As for the Brazilian rookie, he already could feel an improvement in his race pace, as he gets more and more familiarized with the F2 machinery. “The team made a step forward, definetely, and Jack’s podiums prove that”, Guilherme stated. “From my side, I still have a lot to understand regarding the tires, specially in the beginning of the race, with a full tank and a heavier car, and to deal with the changes of the behaviour of the car during the race”, he followed, after finishing the races in P20 and P19.
“The evolution was a fact, as my pace improved a good bit as I am starting to understand a little more all the procedures and how to deal with all the situations. I am feeling more and more comfortable in the car. I made two good starts and I am happy with the path the team is heading to”, he finished.
Round 6 of the FIA Formula 2 2020 season gets underway next weekend in Barcelona, Spain.
