Guilherme Samaia and the Campos Racing team are excited to compete in the sixth round of the 2020 FIA Formula 2 season, this weekend in Barcelona. The Spanish outfit have two obvious reasons: it is the home round for the team and the first race after two podiums scored last week in Silverstone with Jack Aitken. The improvement in the car was also made clear by Brazilian rookie Guilherme Samaia, who showed increased race pace during the weekend.
Samaia was seventh in the fastest lap rankings of the feature race in Silverstone, and heading to the track he has more experience in makes him more optimistic. “It is happening. We are getting better and I am learning more and more. The team have been fantastic with me, providing a lot of data on the car and on my driving. I have never studied this much and this hard before”, Guilherme stated.
Race start is another feature in which Samaia has made clear progress, gaining at least two positions everytime the five red lights go out. “I knew since the beginning that it was going to be a tough learnship, but we can already see some progress, so I am glad and optimistic to race in Barcelona”.
Free practice and qualifying sessions take place on Friday at 12.55 and 17.00 respectively. Saturday’s feature race is scheduled at 16.45 with Sunday’s sprint race getting underway at 11.10. All times are CET.
