The busy summer racing activity goes on with the seventh appointment of the 2020 FIA Formula 2 Championship season taking place at Spa-Francorchamps this weekend. The roller coaster of the Grand Prix of Belgium is without doubts one of the highlights of the season and the single Spanish-based racing team in the F1 feeder series is looking forward to it with its duo of Jack Aitken and Guilherme Samaia.

Aitken and Samaia will be driving their two Campos Racing-run Dallara F2 2018 cars in the Ardennes and they expect to deliver strong performances on one of the most challenging tracks across the world. Spa-Francorchamps brings back nice memories as Campos Racing has achieved excellent results there in almost every single category. This year’s races will serve as a well-deserved racing tribute to young ace Anthoine Hubert from France who died at Spa one year ago after a high-speed collision in race 1.

Samaia, who knows well Spa-Francorchamps, also feels optimistic ahead of the Belgian venue. “I raced here once in 2017 in the Euroformula and I stepped onto the podium in third place. It is a classical driver’s circuit, fast, challenging. I am really looking forward to drive the F2 car on this track”, he says.

Spa-Francorchamps is the track that puts the highest peak vertical load on the tires throughout the season as a result of famous Eau Rouge-Radillon zone. Its undulating nature is a real joy for drivers and viewers themselves, who watch the Grand Prix on their screens. Whatever the weather, races are always closely-fought but rain is always around the corner to entangle the young and unwary!

Free practice and qualifying sessions take place on Friday at 12.55 and 17.00 respectively. Saturday’s feature race is scheduled at 16.45 with Sunday’s sprint race getting underway at 11.10. All times are CET.
